Accountable runs a yield marketplace of borrower vaults and structured credit strategies, with borrower data attested through its own verification network. It held about $296M across four chains at the 2026-08-14 survey. The lending is extended to institutions and strategies whose relevant assets and liabilities can sit at custodians, exchanges and banks. Accountable’s Data Verification Network is a substantive improvement over self-reporting, but proof that a balance exists is not perfected collateral, a repayment waterfall or a liquidation right. The off-chain-credit rule is dispositive; this is not an individual finding that Accountable’s proofs are false or that a named borrower will default.

The research file

The mechanism

YieldApp lists borrower vaults and structured strategies built with Accountable’s Vault-as-a-Service. Its Data Verification Network connects to wallets, custodians, exchanges and banks and publishes privacy-preserving proofs of reserves, liabilities, transactions and other selected claims. Depositor yield still comes from the borrower or strategy; verification changes information quality, not the source of repayment.

Control and operating record

Each listed vault has its own borrower, manager, credit terms and verified data scope. Accountable controls verification infrastructure and vault tooling but does not thereby become guarantor of every obligation. The company reported more than $1 billion of assets verified by October 2025. That is evidence of operating adoption, not a realized default-cycle record for each vault or proof that disclosed assets exceed legally senior claims.

The exit

Exit rights are vault-specific and ultimately depend on borrower repayments, manager liquidity and the governing credit documents. A cryptographic dashboard can reveal a shortfall earlier, but cannot force an exchange balance to be transferred, foreclose on off-chain collateral or make an illiquid loan immediately redeemable. Token transferability is not the same as par redemption.

Why the class rule decides

The off-chain-credit rule applies whenever repayment and enforcement depend materially on an external borrower and legal process. Accountable improves observability but does not remove that structure. This is a class application, not individual underwriting. Review reopens for a specified vault only after borrower-level terms, verified assets and liabilities, priority, collateral control, default remedies and stressed exits are sufficient.

Sources

The claims above trace to these. Where a number could not be independently verified, the thesis says so.

Inherited controls

The verdict above grades the protocol layer. Every position also inherits the asset it holds and the chain it settles on. The least safe layer sets the position’s grade, and the position table names which one that is.
